Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Bologna, Estragon - 26/01/2011

I know, I know! The concert Godspeed You! Black Emperor was still January 26, two weeks ago and now has no meaning to write this review. And I must be the same because I've got things backward to write that I can no longer tenermele in mind and I run the risk of forgetting them, other than that I left confused between the so-called proofs.
E ' unfortunately between work commitments and various technologies and I even lost the habit of writing my raving in the booklet as a hack.
But what of (well) Wednesday two ago it was a wonderful show! I did not know what to expect from a group such as Menuck Efrim, Mauro Beggar and company because their music is traveling moves on many fronts for so long and never lean on a particular genre. In addition, there are no vocals, but only instrumental. Sure as I've seen jazz and jazz concerts, but you know what to expect, in a sense. Wednesday instead of the one that was full expectation that I could afford and was greatest curiosity.
I did not go in Bologna alone, but with Infection (friends less), the Century Mark. Him Godspeed You! know them well but I am fascinated by East Hastings accompanying one of the opening scenes of "Seven days later" , good movie by Danny Boyle in 2003 and a few others I know. Acting as a bit 'of culture about them, I can say that following a philosophy of ecology, anarchic and unconventional but not entirely sure why these people do not want to interview them photograph' to label in any way, including music. In technical jargon, I could say I'm one of those groups seem to know sounds strange that when the shots from here to Kathmandu and return it enjoys and wants to be left alone.

Travel between Vicenza and Bologna was very nice for us because we know Marco and I have never been alone together in a closed cockpit for such a long time. The trip is part of the concert when you go to another city and I liked it because we shared our musical ideas (this is still the link and I think about the next opportunity to add some cd ...), its policies and sports. Then it's nice to travel at night along a road a few hours ago was marked by an enormous number of tires at 2 am and we just passed the truck with his car, sleeping on the side.
not I was never Estragon: comfortable highway has a great car but it is not practical in the area we parked at something like 1 km from the venue! Never mind, we made the road with a Bolognese doc met on the driveway. It looks like a temporary structure in the dark I could not understand a lot but there is a bit 'of time and is home to several interesting concerts as Thin Lizzy and Marilyn Manson to name but two so ... Vicenza could use a postoche all right ... maybe I'll take care of this in another post ...

At 22 o'clock is when we set foot inside the club started the concert by the type-shoulder, this Colin Stetson, unknown to the present (Me included, I just learned from the oracle) but from that 26 / 1 is famous for its enviable checked shirt, wielding two saxophones: a classic and a huge, probably a sax subcontrabbasso. From the bottom of my musical knowledge I can not express an opinion but seriously, trusting what I've heard and the faces of these above, I got the idea of \u200b\u200bsomeone who wanted to demonstrate at any cost, even to lose the lungs, that anyone can afford to declare himself an artist without being able to play really well. At one point, leaving the bathroom, I thought there was someone on stage intent on making a sound shrill, between a scream and a meow. Rather to my surprise was Stentson, able to bring out inhuman sounds from his instruments. From then on I was listening to him also kidnapped from his physical at the end of each track instead of taking a breath he would like to thank to tell us that Italy has a good food nice people (the original is lacking) and to dedicate a song to mother because it was his birthday and he had forgotten! Vabbhè, finished his performance, the boy she is back where he came from (maybe Michigan). Pending
IL concert, less pointed out to me as a good engineer that at least 85-87% of these guys have a beard welcoming part of it. To complete the survey that I've added an unknown but high percentage of girls was very pretty, and found it very agree.

At the 22:57 split GY! BE come on stage in a piecemeal: first the drums, then bass, then the violinist, guitarist, percussionist and then followed by the bass, the other guitarist and eventually the second bass player. Not knowing the song titles I just write, as I wrote them, the feelings that I could see on the phone that night.

Eight elements in a semicircle in front of the word "HOPE" that intermittently along with the snare drum creates an atmosphere of tense expectation, with the complicity of the violin melody alternating stride but the bass snare rumbling in a growing anxiety in the chest accompanied by strings and a sharp metal chime that has every intention to come into prominence. The other elements after the beautiful statues in the shadows come together to form a unison melody that pulls you in the chest ever faster becoming obsessive concrete substance presages a return to the inevitable distortions in the first catastrophic announced by the solemn tolling of the battery.

The second track is a flower, a shower head in the middle of a field of tall grass with wild flowers in the wind. One of the white seeds even try to resist with the help of other flowers and grasses can not avoid loose and takes off into the sky on a day not very advisable. But only when he discovers the beauty is in the air suspension and its point of view. So much so that he decided to let him go where the wind.
The Estragon has exceptional acoustics, you feel perfectly including all of its shorter and acute, as the bells I hear, and that seems next to me.

Another song, the third or fourth, I become lost in the music, is a memory made of beautiful pictures of memorable past life rocked by the soothing and enveloping bass notes round. Situations feelings flavors places words flow like photos faces gestures intangibles. As long as you're not suddenly surprised by the knowledge that those pieces of life are sunk and the pace of motion pictures becomes uncontrollable. Despair overwhelms you as the relentless pace of the battery that keeps track of time past. Until you realize the beauty of that time went, but lived to give you comfort and relief.

The performance of songs from GY! BE sessions seem Prana / psychotherapy: beginning quietly trying to figure out why and where you're wrong. Then after several patrol finally found the right spot and you have to deflate, to alleviate. E Mica does not take very much that the evil coming out very little at a time is even more lowest you writhing in an agony. But the clear feeling of comfort you deal with them and encourages you. Grit your teeth, resist, go ahead till you bring out the evil that plagued you. And burst into tears with relief. You did it.

I then decided to hold the phone in your pocket and enjoy the concert in peace without distraction. Until the end, to East Hastings, never done before in other concerts, as I said lower during the journey. I listened impaled by the joy of hearing a song on first listen, thanks to the dramatic imagery, I had been taken and impressed and appalled by its growing motorcycle crashes in the final roar. The images that are impacting on the sheet but, before that, the band of eight items, tell of protest addressed desire for revenge terror and fear of an end to spam. But inevitably at hand, as the inscription says that concludes two and a half hours of exciting entertainment: "The end is at hand" , such as the hand that one of GY! BE up to greet him as long as eight silence and one by one as they arrived they leave the stage.

back at night along a deserted BO-PD could not help but think of the stark images of London to Boyle.
